CHAPTER ONE
It also contains complete installation files for these systems in the following folders:
| MSDOS5.0 | DOS\DOS50 |
| MSDOS6.2 | DOS\DOS62 |
| Windows 3.0 | Win30, contains compressed images of the Windows disk set |
| Windows 3.1 | Win31, contains folders for each of the Windows disk set |
| WINDOWS 95A | WIN95A, can be installed from this CD or the contents can be copied to a folder named WIN95 on the hard disk if space allows and then installed from the hard disk. |
| WINDOWS 95B | WIN95B, can be installed from this CD or the contents can be copied to a folder named WIN95 on the hard disk if space allows and then installed from the hard disk. |
Many folders contain sub folders with the names DISK1, DISK2, etc. These must be copied to a blank 3.5" 1.44mb floppy before they can be installed to the hard disk.
Some folders contain a documentation file named XDIR.CMT. This file can be opened in NOTEPAD or any text editor to see a list of the files in the folder along with their description.
Some programs can be run from the CD. Any file ending in .ZIP is compressed will have to be copied to the hard disk and use the program UNZIP.EXE uncompress it (if using FILE MANAGER, or EXPLORER press the F5 key after unzipping so the results will show in the file list). Some of the files that end in .EXE are also compressed files that must be copied to the hard disk and then run to see and use their contents (do not require UNZIP) remember to press F5 as outlined above if you are using FILE MANAGER or EXPLORER.
When copying uncompressed files from the CD the file attribute will automatically be set to READ ONLY. This may cause problems with some files, that must be written to (such as .INI) files when you try to run the program from a hard disk or floppy. To fix this problem use DOSSHELL, Win31 FILE MANAGER, or Win95 EXPLORER to remove the READ ONLY attributes.
The file VALET.EXE is a small shell program similiar to XTREE that you may find useful for browsing, copying, etc. the files on this CD
TED.COM is a small text editor.
The CD also contains image files that can be restored to install operating systems/software onto newly formated hard disk.
The image files were created with the LHARC file compression program & consist of a single file ending with .LZH, for instructions read the file \IMAGES\!HOWTO.TXT
