I get these e-mails from ZDNet and they usually highlight some software. I look and read about them and don't give much though about many of them. But I found one that really is worth the price, NOTHING! Go to www.bigfix.com And download the Big Fix Client.

What this will do is keep tabs on your computer and advise of problems that could be real problems if not "Fixed". It found a few things on both my desktop and laptop. It even comes back to tell you that Norton has the latest AV update available. It's always checking MS for the latest patches etc.

You can install it to run on start-up or with an icon on the desktop.

When I ran it the first time it found four patches that I needed to apply:

Clicking on the first one I was presented with this screen, and when I clicked on the "Click here to download and install this patch" it went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the patch automatically.
